Here is ‘Nature’s Pic of the Week!’
These red-spotted toadstools have been making an appearance around my property for the last few years and they look like they have emerged straight out of a fairy tale. This species of fungus is what I believe to be called Amanita muscaria, which is becoming very common in most areas of Australia. A.muscaria forms a symbiotic relationship with many trees and is one of the reasons why they are commonly found growing under large trees such as pines, spruces and cedars.
As magical as these mushrooms are they are highly toxic and are considered a weed in most areas of Australia.
